I had so much fun running around town with Ronee and Adam. We were lucky enough to avoided the rain all afternoon and had peaks of sunlight throughout the day. I could not have asked for anything better while shooting these two love birds. You are both such a joy to be around and so natural and comfortable together. Your love truly shows in the images. I can't wait to shoot your wedding at the Abernathy center here in just a few weeks. Thanks again! -rachel

Jos Smith, Darcie Radtke and Aisha Harley team up to capture Junk 2 Funk 2009 at the Crystal Ballroom

It was a thrilling night to photograph the Junk 2 Funk Recycled Fashion Show Contest at The Crystal Ballroom in Portland! The house was packed! Myself, Jos Smith (The Photographers), Darcie Radke (Truth in Light Photography, and Aisha Harley (Aisha Harley Photography) teamed up to capture multiple fashion shots of this fantastic show.  It takes a serious team to capture this type of event! The lighting is very challenging.  Models move fast.  People pressing all around you. Each of us carried multiple cameras and lenses.  Darcie shot from the balcony for an amazing set of long shots. Aisha strategized front stage left capturing creative low angles while Jos ran back and forth front stage right shooting tight and wide angles from the VIP section.  Enjoy the following slide show, it was a labor of love.  A love for sustainability and funky fashion!

Junk 2 Funk! Supporting sustainability! Trashion Edutainment for the Masses! Junk to Funk Recycled Fashion Show Contest is an annual production in Portland, Oregon aimed to educate it's audiences about waste reduction, recycling issues and to inspire creative re-use. We do this in a most unique way: through showcasing wearable art and couture fashion created out of "trash"."

The crowd went wild last Saturday, November 14th at the Crystal Ballroom when models dressed in funky recycled fashion outfits strolled down the runway.  JUNK TO FUNK RECYCLED FASHION SHOW CONTEST featuring amazing works of wearable art and couture fashion created out of trash! The night was hosted by Mayor Sam Adams and the Mercury's Marjorie Skinner performance by Junquestra with a stage full of junk instruments! At Crystal Ballroom this Saturday, November 14, don't miss walking the Green Carpet to the Junk To Funk Fashion Show Contest. Mayor Sam Adams and Portland Mercury's Managing Editor, Marjorie Skinner, will host the evening's big event as designers show their magnificent recycled creations and compete in front of a panel of esteemed judges. There will be plenty of fun for ALL AGES with music, DIY trash accessories tables and designers selling their jewelry and other recycled accessories. Help restore our earth by creatively transforming our engagement with stuff.

It was so inspiring to be in Berkeley a few weekends ago. I truly was astounded with its amazing light, charm, and of course its people. Melissa and Gary were no exception. They have such a wonderful community around them. It was a spectacular ceremony with loads of love and laughter. I really enjoyed being apart of such a special day for two such stunning people. I wish you both all the best. Congrats! wedding photographers

So there I was... in the middle of photographing a concert and who is asked to appear on stage? Martina is pulled through the audience, brushes past me with a smile and suddenly is put stage center. Who appears? Noah... with a shinning ring. As a lifestyle/wedding photographer I couldn't help but post this great "moment." Hat's off to Martina and Noah. Yes! Click through the images and see the sequence of actions in this sweet moment.

Here is a series of Noah's thoughts while asking Martina to marry him on stage!  Noah states:

...trying desperately to get Martina in position front row and not seem conspicuous about it...
She is to be chosen "at random" as a volunteer for their next act. She has no idea what's about to happen.
I'm backstage, more nervous than I've ever been in 23 years of performing.
a million butterflies swarmed my chest and I had to kneel down... forgot what I was planning to say... come on angels, help me feel my feet. It's time.
....here goes everything....
"Martina Elisabeth Oskarsson, I have loved you madly since the first day we met"
the audience begins to react , as many of her friends have been clued in to what was going to happen tonight.
"I truly believe that you were sent to me by special angels" (referring to my grandmother and mother) "and anyone who has ever known you, knows that YOU are an angel."
"...and I just have one question for you..."
and then, Martina, clown of beauty and timing that she is, leans over to the microphone and says "yes, it is your baby."
.......... and everybody laughs hysterically.
down on your knee !" someone shouts from the crowd.
-and we are back in it for the finale-
"Martina, I want to spend the rest of my life in love with you...."
" Will You Marry Me ? "
...can you guess what she said next?
You are the best Jos ! You're timing is impeccable. Amazing that you just happened to be there shooting already. Couldn't have planned it better if we tried. Guess I don't have to look far for our wedding photographer. How's that for irony..... hahaa
"i think she said yes !"
...never felt so blissed in my life as this....
love is ALWAYS in the air
Thank you yard dogs for making this enchanted golden moment possible, and for building towards and framing it so magnificently. To have nina simone's "feeling good" come on next (which was my mother's favorite song) with the beauty that you all create with that piece.... was ... a dream come true... well.... more like several dreams come true all ...
